You’ve got your business up and running. Now it’s time to take your marketing strategy to the wilds of the world wide web. It’s big and it’s confusing but with a little time spent learning and statusboom on your side you can make your business boom online. Here are the top 5 mistakes that new business make online.

Number 1 – and the BIGGEST mistake is: No Website!

You’re website is your online headquarters. This is where your contact and purchasing information needs to be easily located. As the center of your online marketing matrix, your website is the location to where your advertisements, social media, videos, and etc are pointing back. Websites show up far more easily in a search, and searching is how most people find the products and services they wish to buy. Social media sites, while very important to your marketing strategy, can come and go. Your website is your stable piece of online real estate.

Number 2 – No Social Media

As stated above, social media very important to your internet marketing strategy. This is where you’ll be engaging your customer and humanizing your brand. At the base of it, even online, people are social creatures. When you humanize your brand you build customer loyalty. Loyal customers share your information with their friends and family. They give you good reviews along with ideas for new products and modifications. If by chance you receive a bad review, your quick response can build even more customer loyalty by identifying you as a brand who cares about their customers. Social Media Marketing is time well spent. If it’s overwhelming or confusing statusboom will be glad to help you.

Number 3 – No Content on your Website

In order to be recognized and ranked by the search engines your website needs content. Having a website with an explosion of images and graphics can be very amazing, however it needs to be balanced with text content. The search engine robots can not see images very well (as of yet), so if you have all your text in image form they will have little on which to rank your site. Likewise if your navigation systems are all image oriented the robots will not rank you well. You also have to balance your images, graphics and videos with load time. Google’s new algorithms penalize slow loading sites.

Number 4 – Irrelevant Content

Your content needs to be relevant, current and frequent. It’s no longer enough to just have a well optimized website with strong page content. Google wants to offer its users the most current websites in response to their search terms. If you’re not keeping your content up to date with relevant articles, images and videos about your products then your website will sink in the rankings. The more you talk about what you have to offer, the higher you’ll rank in the search engine results.

Number 5 – No Call to Action

You’ve got all your content in place, articles, images and social media. Now what will your customers do with all of that information? You have to guide them with a call to action. Sometimes it can be bold, as on your website, with a ‘On sale! Buy now!’. Often it will be a gentle suggestion as in a social media ‘click like or comment if you enjoyed this article’. It seems as if it’s an intuitive thing, however it’s not. When you tell people what to do, they will often do it.

These are just a few sign posts to steer you away from the danger zones most new businesses wander into on the internet. For in depth help please visit statusboom‘s packages pages and choose the one that suits you best.
